Most people aren't properly aligned and when you watch them from the back, they look super fat because their knees tend to buckle in.
I weigh 135 pounds and when I saw photos of myself from the back I almost fainted. I looked 100lbs heavier just due to how my legs were aligned. My knees looked like they were about to collapse/explode (take your pick).
These puppies give you a tiny bit of arch support that helps balance your weight on the outside of your foot, rather than the inside.
They are good for shoes that you can't remove the insole like non athletic tennis sneakers or other shoe that has some sort of heel so it wont slip out.

Nothing sketcy about Sketcher. A few years ago I had some major foot trouble so since then I have been careful to protect my hoofies with ankle support and molded foot inserts. None of that matters if you have lousy shoes. I first bought a pair of Skechers Men's Afterburn Memory-Foam Lace-up Sneakers at a small box store after seeing them advertised. Best cheap shoe I ever wore. Liked them so much that I just bought a backup pair here...but I didn't have to. My older pair is still going strong. Lastability. So, if you're not some kind of shoe diva and are looking for a good ride...get yours. I like 'em!

i've owned three pairs now, and i was able to get a little over 350mi out of each pair, i think. I generally like the cushioned running shoes, even though i don't log as many miles weekly as i used to (collegiately and post, about 60-70mi). nowadays i run several times per week and mostly cycle, but these shoes held up well to sporadic use, were comfy on the occasional half-marathon, and wore as well in the rain as in the shine.

I got these for someone as a gift. They are comfortable if you like the "no shoe" type of feel. No arch support and not much cushioning, but that's the whole point,. Very unique, and easily fit/molded to your feet.
